I am currently Assistant Professor of Theory and Philosophy of History at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). My main areas of work are the philosophy of history and the history of historiography. I have recently released a digital catalog of all History MA and PhD dissertations defended in Brazil from 1942 to 2000. All programming as well as substantive research was conducted by me with successive grants from the Coordination for the Improvement of Higher Education Personnel and the São Paulo Research Foundation. Right now I am working on the manuscript for “The Theory and Philosophy of History: Global Variations” (for the Cambridge Elements in Historical Theory and Practice, edited by Daniel Woolf for Cambridge University Press, under contract), and on a new project on Trust and the Ethics of Historical Knowledge.
